The former Török Mansion, on the outskirts of the settlement, was built in the baroque style by István Török, in the 1800’s. It later came into the possession of the Melczer family. The mansion is a two-storey building, and boasts a tower at each corner. It currently serves as the village primary school.
The settlement’s main claim to fame is the castle sited close to the
junction of the Hernád and Sajó Rivers. With a rectangular plan, the
castle has an “Old-Italian” style bastion at each corner and is
surrounded by a moat. On the south-eastern side, the moat is spanned by
a 14-16m wooden bridge, which leads to the drawbridge of the castle’s
only gate. The castle was probably built in its present form in the
16th century.
The House of Regional Folk Art is located on the way from the castle to
the town centre. The furniture and other articles in this peasant
cottage recall the period at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. Of
particular interest in the exhibition is the collection of locally made
bricks.
