Boldva

The Benedictine abbey-church, dating from the late 12th century, is one of Hungary’s most significant Romanesque style monuments.

The church was built on top of the site of a several-thousand-years old settlement. The remnants of piles dating from this earlier period can be found under the semi-circular chancel of the church.
